#LoveThroughAutism

Welcome to Wingbeat 88's #LoveThroughAutism Program!

A place to come as you are, find community, and feel a little more held.

Wingbeat 88 is rooted in love, connection, and community support for our Indigenous relatives, and our doors are open to everyone. Whether you’re looking for resources, a helping hand, a listening ear, or simply a place where you can belong, you are welcome here.

We believe community is medicine.

There is room for your story, your culture, your laughter, your healing, and your dreams.

Come as you are. Leave feeling a little more loved.

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a neurodevelopmental condition characterized by difficulties in social interaction, verbal and nonverbal communication, and the presence of repetitive behavior and restricted interests. Other common signs include unusual responses to sensory stimuli.

Did you KNow?

Family and community are important sources of support. For many Indigenous families, supporting a child with ASD can involve parents, grandparents, siblings, extended family, Elders, and other community members.

Culture can be part of support. Traditional activities, connection to land, community gatherings, language, storytelling, art, music, and cultural practices can all be meaningful parts of an individual's identity and wellbeing, when they are meaningful to that person and family.

Traditional knowledge can be a strength. Indigenous families and communities bring their own knowledge and ways of caring, teaching, connecting, and supporting children. Services should build with families rather than assuming outside professionals know best.

Autism & Family Support

You belong here. You are not alone.

At WB88, we believe every relative is created with purpose, and every family deserves to feel supported, understood, and surrounded by community.

Our autism programming centers Indigenous families and communities, while welcoming all families seeking connection, understanding, and support. We bring together Indigenous values of love, kinship, purpose, and healing with practical, evidence-informed resources to help families find their way.

Building community. Sharing knowledge. Walking together.

Whether your family is just beginning to explore an autism diagnosis or has been walking this journey for years, you don’t have to navigate it alone.

Our programs include:

SibShops
A supportive space for siblings of children with autism to connect, share experiences, build understanding, and simply be themselves.

Finding Our Way
An autism 101 course designed for families who are new to an autism diagnosis. Learn about autism, discover available resources, and build confidence in finding the support that fits your family.

Parent Support Groups
A welcoming space for parents and caregivers to connect with others who understand, share experiences, learn from one another, and find encouragement along the way.

Our vision

We are working toward a community where Indigenous families affected by autism are seen, heard, honored, and supported—and where culture, family, identity, and community are part of the journey.

There is room for you here.

Come as you are. Bring your questions, your experiences, your hopes, and your stories.

We are your community.
We are your relatives.
We walk together.
